Introduction to BTS
Who are BTS and why do they matter?
BTS — short for Bangtan Sonyeondan, or "Bulletproof Boy Scouts" — is a seven-member South Korean group that debuted in 2013. The members are RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook.
What set BTS apart from the start was authorship: they write and produce much of their own music, often about real anxieties faced by young people. Over a decade they grew from a small-label underdog into one of the most influential acts in the world, while their fandom, ARMY, became known for its scale and devotion.
